Sleep Apnea Fatigue

Many of us today drift through our work days (and our lives really) always feeling tired and run-down. For those of us with the 60 hour plus jobs it almost seems natural but why do so many people without demanding jobs fall into the same bucket? Maybe it’s sleep apnea fatigue.

Sleep apnea is a hidden problem. It’s a sleep disorder that many suffer from and never really know it. It robs us of our concentration and our energy. It’s literally a “thief in the night.” It causes us to struggle through each sleep cycle never getting the proper rest we really need to stay alert and healthy.

The causes of sleep apnea are varied. Generally, the soft tissue in our throats relaxes to the point that it covers or blocks our airways. This can happen in older people who have lost a certain amount of muscle tone. It can happen to overweight or obese people who lack muscle tone as well. But it can also happen because of temporary sinus congestion or other sinus issues.

If left untreated, severe sleep apnea can have long-term effects on our health. The heart and lungs can be affected by the constant, cyclical episodes that occur every night. Obstructive sleep apnea can even be life-threatening.  Fortunately, there are several different treatment options available including Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) therapy and several different CPAP medical supplies that support that therapy.

So this site is all about discussing sleep apnea and its effects in order to better understand it and how it can be treated. If you think you may be suffering from sleep apnea fatigue, read on.
